Celebrate Soulfully at Walt Disney World This Summer

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

A few weeks ago Disney invited me to Celebrate Soulfully at Walt Disney World with an evening at Disney Springs and a special screening of the documentary “Summer of Soul” directed by the musician Questlove, which cronicals the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival and features never-before-seen footage of Stevie Wonder, Sly & The Family Stone, Gladys Knight & the Pips, B.B. King, The 5th Dimension and Mahalia Jackson.

Before the screening, I had a chance to savor some of the delectable offerings around Disney Springs, including many of the bars and restaurants’ happy hour offerings. Visitors will find plenty to sip and munch on while taking in live music around the Springs (check out Morimoto Street Food!).

Personally, I enjoyed some of Disney Springs awesome non-alcoholic options, as I abstain from alcohol, like a classic mocktail. I particularly enjoyed lounging around the House of Blues and taking in some soulful music. Interestingly, a portion of the facility that houses House of Blues at Disney Springs was actually lifted from my hometown, Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Summer vibes don’t end at Disney Springs, though, as guests visiting other Walt Disney World locations can get in on the fun, like soaking in the sun at Disney’s Blizzard Beach waterpark (even if I have to close my eyes on Summit Plummet). Other awesome offerings infused with soul include “Celebration of Festival of the Lion King” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the fascinating “Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure” exhibit at EPCOT’s American Adventure Pavillion.

How will you Celebrate Soulfully at Walt Disney World?
