Every day, many tens of thousands of people visit the Most Magical Place on Earth. People of all ages, from the youngest of children to the most jurassic of dinosaurs, need assistance getting around from time to time; that’s why Disney makes it easy to visit ‘The World’ with mobility disabilities.
There is no shortage of options in the Orlando area when it comes to renting a wheelchair or ECV, this article only details the methods and companies I would personally use or recommend to family and friends.
When my grandmother visited Walt Disney World last, we rented her an ECV from Disney each day once we arrived at the park. The only caveat is that they tend to book up rather quickly, and a waitlist forms. You can’t rent in advance, so you need to arrive at the park or, even better, before the park opens. Rental fees at Walt Disney World parks and Disney Springs are $50 dollars a day with a $100 deposit and must be returned before you exit the park.
If you choose to rent for the length of your stay through a third party, both Disney and I recommend Scooterbug. Scooterbug is a private mobility rental company in the Central Florida area and is the Disney Featured Provider that offers stroller, ECV, and wheelchair length-of-stay rentals for Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels.
When Disney Resort hotel Guests choose to rent through ScooterBug, the Guest does not need to be present when the equipment is delivered to the Resort hotel. ScooterBug will work with Disney Resort Cast Members to manage deliveries and returns of rented strollers, ECVs, and wheelchairs.
Pre-orders and deliveries of mobility rentals through ScooterBug to Disney Resort hotels are available by visiting scooterbug.com/orlando or calling (800) 726-8284.
